Typical Stages Involved in The IVF in 2 Weeks

For Women

Step:1– Suppressing your natural monthly hormone cycle

As a first step, the required drug is given to the patient to suppress the natural cycle and this drug treatment continuous for about 14 to 15 days.

Step:2– Stimulation of follicular growth in the ovaries

Once the natural cycle has been suppressed, then a type of fertility hormone known as a gonadotropin is given to patients. This injection is usually taken for around 10- 12 days which increase the hormone to produce the number of eggs. At the same time, the patient will be given medication to help prepare the lining of the womb for embryo transfer.

Step:3- Checking on progress/ follicular monitoring

Follicular growth is monitored by the doctor through vaginal ultrasound scans and possibly, blood tests. When the eggs are ready to be collected, then a hormone injection is given to the patient to mature the eggs and the egg pick up procedure is carried out after 35.5.hours.

Step:4– Collecting the eggs

Your eggs are collected using ultrasound guidance retrieval while you are sedated. A needle is used to collect the eggs from the follicles from each ovary which is attached to the ultrasound probe. The eggs are retrieved from the follicular fluid and then the sperm sample is taken and the sperms from the same are used to fertilize the eggs to produce embryos.

Step:5– Fertilization of produce embryos

Then the vital process of IVF treatment starts to fertilize the eggs with male partner’s or the donor’s sperm which is cultured in the lab for 16–20 hours. At specific intervals, their growth is monitored and they are checked for signs of fertilization.

Step:6– Embryo transfer

The fertilized embryos are grown in the laboratory incubator for up to six days. The embryologist at the clinic monitors the development of the embryos and the perfect embryo is chosen for transfer into woman’s womb. Some or any remaining embryos of suitable quality can be frozen for future use.

Embryo transfer: This is normally a pain-free procedure and usually no sedation is necessary, but you may experience a little discomfort because you need a full bladder if ultrasound is used.
